The Center for Autism

The Center for Autism, located on the Coral Lettinga Campus in Grand Rapids, Michigan, provides comprehensive outpatient services to families struggling with autism across West Michigan.  The Center focuses on treating autism spectrum disorders from a multi-disciplinary approach that includes psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, behavior analysts, speech and occupational therapists.  Our highly specialized clinicians assess and treat autism and other neurodevelopmental disabilities, as well as learning disabilities, ADHD, and social/emotional disorders.

By providing all of our services in one location, it reduces the stress of multiple locations for the individual and their family.  In addition, all the specialists are in one location so we can work together to treat symptoms and behaviors to maximize the individuals potential.  The Center was specifically built to incorporate unique design elements that will make a visit less stressful for the person with autism.

Available Services

Multi-disciplinary Evaluation
At both our outpatient and residential facilities, our multi-disciplinary team provides a thorough assessment of the client.  Our product is a report and treatment plan where all practicioners have come to a consensus about the diagnosis and best treatment plan for the patient.

Neuro-psychological/Psychological Evaluation
The psychological evaluation will explore the factors that could limit an individual's success to guide treatment plans and approaches to help the person maximize his/her potential.

Behavior Analysis
Behavior modification teaches desirable responses and behavior patterns to replace undesirable ones.

Psychiatry
Our psychiatrists work with each child and determine what symptoms are best treated with medications.

Psychotherapy
The goal of psychotherapy is to reduce emotional distress by developing improved coping skills. Our comprehensive treatment begins with a psychological or neuropsychological evaluation which provides clear recommendations for treatment by our psychologist and neuropsychologist.

Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapists help clients learn important and meaningful activities for their day-to-day lives.

Residential Options
Our DART program provides residential services for adolescents with autism and other neuro-developmental disorders.

Heart of West Michigan United Way invites you to take on the Small Business Challenge, created through a generous matching grant of $100,000 from the Steelcase Foundation. Any new United Way gift of $1,000 or more from a workplace of 100 or less employees will be matched up to a total of $100,000 by the end of March 2012.

Small businesses are the heart of most communities, yet during the 2010 United Way Campaign small businesses of 100 employees or less made up only 11.5% of total campaign dollars. This campaign year, United Way is hoping to change that with the Small Business Challenge.
