Harbor Point

Ottawa County

Harbor Point is a specialized residential treatment program for adult males diagnosed with a serious mental illness whose behavior has presented severe risk to themselves or others. The program is comprised of two separately licensed 15-bed units. Goals and objectives are based on creating an environment where residents feel safe, and helping each person move toward a life that is personally meaningful and satisfying.

Harbor Point utilizes a Person-Centered Planning philosophy centered on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), an evidence-based behavioral treatment. The goal of ACT is to support action consistent with one’s chosen values. ACT-based interventions are delivered primarily in group therapy, though individual therapy is available. Responsiveness to therapies is measured using the Beck Inventories for Anxiety and Depression.

Harbor Point also offers a Problematic Sexual Behavior (PSB) treatment program for individuals who have exhibited harmful sexual behaviors.

Harbor Point's Outcome Measures

  • Increase the percentage of residents with improved level of functioning compared to their previous assessment;
  • Increase the percentage of residents reporting positive outcomes of care;
  • Ensure the safety of residents through elimination of the need for physical management;
  • Decrease the level of assessed risk for those participating in sex offender therapy;
  • Decrease the average length of stay.
