Competitive Employment Transportation

Hope Network’s Specialized Transportation Service provides a safety net to those with disabilities who are employed and have exhausted all other means of transportation. This service is designed to help those with disabilities maintain meaningful employment by “filling the gap” in transportation services. The Specialized Transportation Service is available to those who, because of disability, cannot ride the public transit system. It is also available to those who may live or work in areas where ADA Paratransit is not available.

These services are provided throughout Kent County by caring, trained driving staff with over 40 vehicles available seven days a week, 365 days a year. All services are provided on a shared ride basis, meaning that there are multiple passengers on board making multiple stops. Passengers traveling with mobility aids such as a walker or wheelchair can be accommodated. Please make Customer Care aware of all special needs so that the appropriate vehicles are provided.

This service can be accessed through an eight-week sponsorship provided by insurance companies, family, or case management agencies. The sponsor is required to pay the full cost of the transportation service for eight weeks. After eight weeks, the passenger is then responsible for a portion of the cost, with the balance being paid through donations and grants.
